Higher Ground Counseling Services is a non-profit counseling center that works with Shasta County Churches and schools. Our staff includes licensed therapists, registered interns, and practicum students from local graduate programs in Redding. Services are available Monday – Friday. Some fees are available on a sliding scale. Every attempt is made to work within people’s ability to pay.

Our counseling services are designed to help people gain insight into their life experiences with all of its challenges, emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. Our desire is to see that people are treated with consideration to the needs of body, soul, and spirit. Counseling helps to facilitate worthwhile changes in the ways we perceive and experience life and family. Knowledge of God and ourselves is critical in finding our way. Socrates said, “Above all else, know thyself.” When we discover more about ourselves, we can more fully understand how we interact with God and others.

Augustine said, “Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of the mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars; and they pass by themselves without wondering.” Pascal said, “The heart has reasons that reason knows not.” Sometimes we need a friend to help us sort through our own heart. We want to help. Our counselors are prepared to help people find answers to the big and little questions of life.
